Monks Fall to Sharks and Wildcats in GNAC Tri-Match

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (9-21, 5-8 GNAC) suffered a pair of losses in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball tri-match on Saturday. The Monks lost to host Simmons University (18-6, 11-2 GNAC), 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 26-24) and fell to reigning GNAC Champion Johnson & Wales University (17-9, 11-2 GNAC), 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 26-24).

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Freshman Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) delivered five kills, two aces, and seven digs
  • Junior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) tallied three kills, 14 assists, two aces, and five digs
  • Freshman Sierra Burns (Peyton, Colo.) added nine digs

LEADERS – SIMMONS:

  • Claire Conners notched 14 kills on 28 attempts with a .429 attack percentage and added three aces
  • Sydney Iannantuono posted six kills, four aces, and eight digs
  • Kat Simeonidis registered three kills, three aces, 30 assists, and five digs
  • Jordan Hacker chipped in with 12 digs and three assists

JOHNSON & WALES 3, SAINT JOSEPH'S 0

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Senior Sarah Quinn (Dover, N.H.) posted six kills with a .400 attack percentage and two block assists
  • Nicole Baron (Derry, N.H.), Olivia Kent (Ellington, Conn.), and Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) posted four kills apiece
  • Holden registered two kills, 19 assists, and eight digs
  • Burns added 17 digs

LEADERS – JOHNSON & WALES:

  • Tiah Scott, Peyton Oliver, and Masina Tupea recorded nine kills apiece
  • Kyra Hissner tallied six kills, 23 assists, seven digs, and four block assists
  • Emily Corbett contributed 18 digs

Saint Joseph's has earned the #8 seed in the GNAC Tournament and will play at top-seeded Rivier University on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
