Monks Fall to Raiders, Blank Blue Jays in GNAC Tri-Match

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (12-16, 6-5 GNAC) split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball tri-match at Mike McDevitt Court on Saturday. The Monks opened the day with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-14) loss to Rivier University (21-4, 10-0 GNAC) and salvaged the split with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 29-27) win over University of Saint Joseph (4-19, 1-9 GNAC).

TEAM STATS:

Rivier held the advantage in kills (43-15), attack percentage (.316 - .036), assists (36-12), service aces (8-5), and total blocks (5-4).

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Freshman Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) posted five kills and six digs
  • Senior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) added seven assists and seven digs
  • Senior Isabel Philbrick (Milford, N.H.) chipped in with two kills, two aces, and three total blocks
  • Junior Sam Holland (Gilmanton, N.H.) notched seven digs

LEADERS – RIVIER:

  • Sydney Racevicius delivered 17 kills on 35 attempts with nine digs
  • Lily Sills boasted 14 kills on 25 bids for a .520 attack percentage
  • Avery Pollard registered 29 assists and eight digs
  • Sofia Pawlusik posted a team-high 11 digs

Saint Joseph's posted the lead in kills (53-28), attack percentage (.286 - .155), assists (45-28), aces (9-3), and blocks (3-2).

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Briones notched a .517 attack percentage with 16 kills in 29 attempts with 15 digs
  • Philbrick added seven kills and a pair of total blocks
  • Freshman Nadia Sixto (Chattanooga, Tenn.) produced nine kills and seven digs
  • Sophomore Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) added a team-high 19 digs with eight kills
  • Holden recorded three kills, 24 assists, four aces, seven digs, and two block assists
  • Senior Catherine Balzano (Portland, Maine) chipped in with five kills

LEADERS – UNIVERSITY OF SAINT JOSEPH:

  • Shannon Carey posted 12 kills and five digs
  • Hannah Benson added 10 kills and nine digs
  • Fernanda Ayala Rodriguez tallied 14 assists and nine digs
  • Natalia Rabassa registered two aces and 12 digs
