Women Win GNAC XC Championship!!

STANDISH, ME - The Saint Joseph's women's cross country team won the 2008 GNAC 5K Cross Country Championship, for the second consecutive year, with 47 team points, 22 points ahead of runner-up Johnson & Wales University. Alysn Ludwig '09 (Waldoboro, ME) placed fifth overall with a 21:16 time to pace four SJC runners who finished in the top ten individually. Cathryn Lariviere of Emmanuel College won the race with a time of 19:46, which broke the St. Joe's course record time by one second.

Head Coach Tom Dann was named the 2008 GNAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, as voted upon by the league's coaches. Dann was the 2007 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year recipient.

Rounding out the top five finishers for St. Joe's were Katie Murphy '11 (Baileyville, ME) in 7th (21:36), Mary Casinghino '10 (Manchester, NH) 9th (21:41), Tiffany Binette '11 (Biddeford, ME) 10th (21:47) and Shannon Marden '10 (Dover-Foxcroft, ME) in 21st (22:57).

The Saint Joseph's cross country teams will travel to Bristol, RI on Saturday, November 8th to participate in the ECAC Championships. The women's race begins at 11:00 AM with the men to follow at 12:00 PM.
