Sixth GNAC Weekly Honor for Dostie

Sixth GNAC Weekly Honor for Dostie

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's freshman Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) has received a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honor for the sixth time this fall.

Dostie, the GNAC Runner of the Week for the second consecutive reporting period and third time overall this season, has also netted a trio of GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades in her first collegiate campaign. Since joining the conference prior to the fall of 2007, only one other SJC athlete - top swimmer Hannah Gajewski '12 (Biddeford, Maine/McAuley) - has collected as many weekly honors in the same season.

The freshman standout finished as the top GNAC runner in the NCAA DIII New England Regional with a 23:16 effort and placed 68th out of 353 participants in the 6K event. In 10 years competing at the regional championship, no SJC female has ever recorded a faster time or better finish.

Dostie, the 2011 GNAC Runner and Rookie of the Year, competed in seven meets as a freshman with three personal victories and six top-15 finishes while pacing the Monks in all seven events. Only Sarah Willis '08, who notched three victories as both a freshman and sophomore, has posted as many wins for St. Joe's in a single season over the past 12 years.
