Women Finish 22nd at ECAC Championship

BRISTOL, RI – Saint Joseph's College placed 22nd with 718 points in the 2013 ECAC DIII New England 6K Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday.

Junior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) led the Monks with a 23:48 effort to place 33rd out of 327 participants. Junior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) finished 94th with a 25:13 time and freshman Marie Harrington (Limerick, Maine) was 130th with a 25:51 performance.

With six runners in the top 13 overall, Middlebury College earned top-team honors in the regional event for the fifth-consecutive season with 30 total points. Williams College was the runner-up with 54 points, Tufts University placed third with 111 points, Amherst College was fourth with 164 points and Wellesley College finished fifth with 199 team points.

Middlebury's Catie Skinner won the event after touring the 6K course in 22:30 and her teammate, Emily Attwood, was the runner-up with a 22:40 effort. Katherine Henri of Purchase College finished third (22:46), Louisa Lee of Williams placed fourth (22:55) and Emma DeCamp of Middlebury was fifth (22:57) in the annual event.

For the Monks, freshman Mikaela Rowell (Derry, N.H.) finished 241st (28:35), sophomore Grace Dancoes (Falmouth, Maine) placed 251st (28:55), freshman Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) was 259th (29:18) and junior Victoria Ramos (North Scituate, R.I.) finished 298th (31:21).

Saint Joseph's was the top-finishing Great Northeast Athletic Conference team. Johnson & Wales University was 24th with 749 points.

Saint Joseph's will cap the 2013 campaign with an appearance in the NCAA DIII New England next Saturday in Gorham, Maine.
