Abbott Tabbed as Alfond Center Graduate Assistant

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College Chief Athletics & Recreation Officer Will Rothermel is pleased to announce that Devin Abbott '23 will assume the role of Alfond Center Graduate Assistant. His first day on the job will be August 1st.

The position supports the athletics & recreation department by overseeing operations of Alfond Center Welcome Desk & facilities as well as the supervision of the front desk's student staff.

Abbott, who studied Sports Management and graduated from Saint Joseph's last May, was a three-season athlete and team captain for the Monks' cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs. He capped his college running days by placing second in the GNAC Cross Country Championship in the fall and helping St. Joe's claim the program's first-ever track & field conference championships with an indoor title at Boston University in February and an outdoor crown at the SJC Athletics Complex in April.

Rothermel adds, "We are thrilled and lucky to have Devin back on the team in this capacity! He is going to elevate the athletics and recreation department with his work ethic, professionalism and customer service-oriented approach."

While fulfilling his role managing the Alfond Center front desk, Abbott will pursue his master's degree in Business Administration Leadership at Saint Joseph's. He will also serve as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program after working as a student assistant for Head Coach Tyler Ackley last winter.

"Over my four years here I've had some amazing opportunities and have gotten to work with some great people," says Abbott. "I want to thank Will Rothermel and SJC Athletics for welcoming me back. I'm very excited for this year!"
