WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Ryan
Prescott '09 (Pittsfield, NH) led St. Joe's and
placed 28th out of 331 runners with a time of 27:02.9 in the 8K
NCAA Divsion III New England Regional Cross-Country Championships
on Saturday to help the Monks place 27th out of 49 with 867 team
points.
Host-team Williams College won the event with 36 points while Ephs
runner Edgar Kosgey toured the course in 25:52.7 to take home
individual championship honors.
Jeremy Allen '10 (Rutland, VT)
placed 187th (30:02.5), Vinnie
Micucci '09 (Yarmouth, ME) was 209th (30:39.3) and
Bobby Britten '12 (Scarborough,
ME) ran the NCAA qualifiying race in 30:49.2 to place 215th
overall.
Andrew Mockler '12 (Saco, ME)
(31:36.9, #239), Tony Myatt '09
(Portland, ME/Cheverus) (32:12.9, #251) and Andrew
Moravick '10 (Biddeford, ME) (33:42.1, #279)
rounded out the Royal Blue runners in the event.
The 27th place finish for the men's squad is the highest team
finish since Saint Joseph's entered the NCAA in 2002.
Prescott's 28th place effort is the best
performance at the regionals in Head Coach Tom Dann's 13-year
tenure.
Individually, Prescott improved dramatically in
his regional performances over his four years. He placed 166th as a
freshman, 99th as a sophomore, 77th as a junior and 28th as a
senior.
