Fisher Collects Third Top Rookie Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) has been chosen as the GNAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

Fisher placed 57th out of 147 runners with a 29:18 performance in the 2014 Maine State Championship, which was held at the challenging course at Mount Blue High School in Farmington, Maine on Saturday afternoon.

For Fisher, who claimed the same conference honor on September 15th and 22nd, the time at the Maine State Championship counts as his fourth sub-30 minute effort of the season. In six events so far this fall, the first-year standout has finished as the Monks' #2 runner on five occasions and was the third SJC athlete to cross the finish line at the Purple Valley Classic on September 27th.

Saint Joseph's is off this weekend and will host the GNAC Championship on the SJC cross country trail on Saturday, November 1st.
