NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's cross country teams posted fifth and third place finishes, respectively, at the Charger Invitational at Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday morning. The men posted 103 points in the 5K race while the women registered 62 points.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

Colby-Sawyer ran away with the win today with 29 points. Plymouth State came in at second (52) and the Monks followed in third with 62 points. India Jones of Norwich led the way with a 19:46 effort, nearly a minute a head of the next runner, to take home the individual win for the women.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Senior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) paced the Monks and placed eighth overall with a 22:00.8 effort
  • Senior Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) was the second runner to finish for the Monks coming in 10th with a 22:45 finish
  • Junior Caity Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) finished 12th in her college debut setting a personal best of 23:06
  • Senior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) ran for 15th with a 23:35 performance
  • Senior Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) placed 17th finishing in 23:40
  • Freshman Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) rounded up the Monks with a 32nd finish to set her collegiate personal best at 26:10

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

Plymouth State claimed the invitational title with 34 points, only six ahead of runner-up Maine-Farmington, while PSU junior Michael Olson won the event with a 25:56 time, with teammate Jacob Gallaher following in right behind (16:46).

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) led Saint Joseph's with a time of 17:05 to take sixth overall
  • Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Plaistow, N.H.) was the second runner for the Monks placing 10th overall (17:19)
  • Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) officially started his colligate career with a 26th place finish setting a personal best of 18:48
  • Freshman Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine.) toured the 5k course in 19:29 for his rookie season start placing 32nd overall
  • Senior Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was the fifth SJC runner to cross the line and placed 46th overall with a huge personal best of 21:46
  • Senior Shawn Breen (Ashland, N.H.) placed 52nd just edging the following runner at the finish for 25:51

Saint Joseph's will participate in the UNE Invitational in Biddeford on September 11th.
