Monks Post Pair of Third-Place Finishes at Franklin Park

BOSTON, MASS. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's cross country teams both placed third at Franklin Park in the Suffolk Invitational on Saturday. The men posted 88 points in the Men's Gold 8K race while the women compiled 113 points in the Women's Gold 6k race.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

Bowdoin took first overall for the men (26 points) with their very own junior Lucas Dicerbo placing first individually (28:16).  Maine Maritime placed second with 83 points with the help from their top finisher Ponce Saltysiak placing second with a 28:21 mark. Saint Joseph's came in third with 88 points with senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) finishing third overall.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Senior Captain Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) led Saint Joseph's with a third-place finish racing through the park in a 28:28 effort
  • Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) placed 13th overall with a strong finishing kick to get him in at 29:47
  • Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) ran a 32:06 placing 22nd overall
  • Senior Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) placed 24th with another personal best in his 8k effort finishing in 32:37
  • Freshman Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine.) finished 26th for a time of 32:43
  • Junior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) finished next for the monks placing 30th for a 33:37 finish
  • Senior Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was the seventh SJC runner to cross the line and placed 39th overall with a 35:47 mark
  • Shawn Breen (Ashland, N.H.) finished in 38:45 to close for the Monks

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
Simmons finished first with 69 points with their top runner placing third overall (Alice Najimy 25:02). Bowdoin came in right behind Simmons also scoring 69 points followed by the Monks (113). Regis' very own Ashleigh Kelley led the women for a 24:30 effort with Olivia Mosca from Southern Maine following in behind with a 24:45.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Junior Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished first for the Monks placing 14th overall with a time of 26:56
  • Junior Caity Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) came in right behind Kennedy with a 27:29 finish for 21st
  • Senior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) was the third one for the Monks with a 28:05 effort placing 27th
  • Senior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) followed in right after Allen for a 28:21 performance placing 28th
  • Senior Captain Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) paced for 28:28 with a 30th overall finish
  • Senior Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) ran in at 28:50 to place 38th
  • Freshman Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had a very strong race touring the course in 32:30

Saint Joseph's will be back at it on October 30th when they make their way back to Franklin Park for the GNAC Championship.
