Monks Cap 2022 Season at NCAA Division III East Regional Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College cross country teams competed in the 2022 NCAA Division III East Regional hosted by Bowdoin College at Pickard Field on Saturday. The SJC men finished 27th with 770 team points in the 8K event while the St. Joe's women featured a pair of runners in the 6K race.

With six runners in the top eight overall, MIT won the NCAA DIII East Regional Championship with 21 points, well ahead of runner-up Bates College, which posted 72 points. Colby College (82 points), Tufts University (116), and Bowdoin College (166) rounded out the top five programs on the men's side.

Colby junior Tyler Morris toured the 8K course in 24:55.6 to claim top individual honors.

MIT also won the women's race with 36 points while Bates placed second (64), Brandeis finished third (142), and Tufts (145) Bowdoin (172) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Bates senior Jillian Richardson was the top female finisher with a 21:41.1 effort.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN (6K):

  • Sophomore Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) placed 222nd with a 32.17.4 time
  • Sophomore Lindy Hyndman (Auburn, Maine) finished 224th (32:46.6)
  • Junior Hannah Vacco (Pembroke, N.H.) was 234th (35:32.4)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN (8K):

  • Grad student Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) placed 106th with a 29:01.9 time
  • Senior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) finished 109th (29:04.4)
  • Sophomore Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) was 176th (31:30.2)
  • Junior Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) placed 194th (32:26.8)
  • Sophomore Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine) finished 200th (32:54.2)
