BIDDEFORD, ME - The Saint Joseph's women's swim team fell to 4-1 with a 136-66 loss to the University of New England on Tuesday evening. Lindsay D'Ascanio '11 (Kennebunk, ME) swam to a top finish with a time of 2:25.47 in the 200-Back and Jamie Wojtkiewicz '12 (Bedford, NH) earned a victory in the 200-IM with a 2:31.99 effort.
Wojtkiewicz led the way with 17
individual points and, besides the top finish in the 200-IM, earned
a second place effort in the 500-Free (6:12.71) and was a member of
the runner-up 400-Free Relay (4:05.78) team, along with
D'Ascanio, Hannah
Gajewski ‘12 (Biddeford, ME/McAuley) and
Amanda Lanoix ‘12 (Lyman,
ME), which set a new program record with a 4:05.78 time.
D'Ascanio tallied 16 points,
Gajewski added 12 and Lanoix
chipped in with 11 points in the event. Gajewski toppled the
program record with a 2:44.84 time in the 200-Breast to earn a
second place finish. Lanoix shaved 18 seconds off
the mark she set earlier this season with a 12:23.47 effort in the
1000-Free event to secure a runner-up finish.
Ashton Piers ‘09 (Falmouth,
ME/Deering) captured a second-place bid in the 200-IM (2:33.43) and
swam a leg of the runner-up 200-Medley Relay (2:10.08) team, along
with Katie Brooks ‘11
(Kingstown, RI), Danielle Harmon
‘10 (Poland, ME) and Rose
Maccarrone ‘12 (Hingham, MA).
Saint Joseph's will return to action on Saturday, January 24th at
Husson University in a tri-meet with Wheelock College. The meet is
scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
