2010-11 Women's Swimming Preview

STANDISH, ME – The Saint Joseph's College Women's Swimming team will open the 2010-11 season with a home meet against Husson University this coming Saturday.

Head Coach Rick Horr, now entering his third year as the leader of the program, will tend to a group that features an impressive mix of experience and talent this winter.

Top returners include Hannah Gajewski '12 (Biddeford, ME/McAuley), Jamie Wojtkiewicz '12 (Bedford, NH), Rose Maccarrone '12 (Hingham, MA), Anne Roberts '12 (Hopkinton, NH) and Christine Cote '13 (Biddeford, ME). Gajewski is the Monks' record-holder in nine individual events and Cote, a two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week honoree last season, is expected to build upon a successful rookie campaign.

Key newcomers include Courtney Shea '14 (Walpole, MA), Meghan Carr '14 (Topsham, ME), Liza Sirois '14 (Lewiston, ME) and Elizabeth Thomas '14 (Norwood, MA). This freshman class features a solid swimming background and adds both talent and depth to the squad.

The Monks will compete in nine events this winter, including home meets against Husson (10/30) and Elms College (11/13). St. Joe's will participate in the GNAC Championship on December 4th and 5th and the NCAA DIII Regional Championships February 18-20.
