Women's Swimmers Top Husson, 125-94

BANGOR, ME – The St. Joe's women's swim team kicked off the New Year with a 125-94 victory over Husson University on Saturday afternoon. Hannah Gajewski '12 (Biddeford, ME/McAuley) paced the Royal Blue with a trio of top finishes on the day.

Gajewski led the Monks with 27 points after posting winning efforts in the 200-Free (2:12.07), 50-Free (28.05) and 100-IM (1:09.85) events and also swam a leg for the top 200-Free relay team along with Meghan Carr '14 (Topsham, ME),Jamie Wojtkiewicz '12 (Bedford, NH) and Christine Cote '13 (Biddeford, ME).

Wojtkiewicz registered 21 total points after winning the 400-IM (5:27.38) and 100-Free (1:01.93) competitions and placing third in the 50-Breast (38.53).

Rose Maccarrone '12 (Hingham, MA) finished the day with 17 points with a top finish in the 50-Breast (37.15) and runner-up efforts in the 100-Breast (1:21.87) and 100-IM (1:12.05) events.

Cote chipped in with 13 points with a winning effort in the 50-Fly (32.32) and a second-place finish in 50-Free (28.16).

Meghan Lyons '11 (Danvers, MA) posted a runner-up finish in the 500-Free (7:20.25) competition.

St. Joe's will travel to Biddeford on Monday for a 1:00 PM meet versus University of New England.
