SJC Swim Programs Collect Scholar All-America Team Honors

STANDISH, ME – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swim teams have garnered College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors.

Over 500 college and university teams across all three NCAA divisions achieved the honor, which is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2011 fall semester.

St. Joe's is one of just two New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) members (Elms College is the other) to have both the men's and women's programs honored with the CSCAA high academic honor. Overall 14 NEISDA women's teams and two NEISDA men's teams received mention.

The CSCAA is the oldest coaches' organization in America.  In addition to Scholar All American Awards, the CSCAA recognizes All American Swimmers and Divers at the national championships every year.

"I am so proud of this honor and hope we can continue our solid work in the classroom during the spring semester as well," adds fourth-year Head Coach Rick Horr. "We worked so hard in and out of the pool this year and receiving this award demonstrates that our student-athletes are more than capable of maintaining their academic and athletic responsibilities."
