Rabideau Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) has been chosen as the GNAC Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week for the reporting period ending November 18th.

Rabideau won the 50-Fly (30.21) and 50-Breast (34.47) events and finished as the runner-up in the 100-Breast (1:15.45) in her first NCAA swim meet, a loss to Regis College at home on Saturday afternoon. A two-sport standout, Rabideau, the 2012 GNAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year,  broke a program record in her first event – the 50-Breast – and nearly topped the team's 100-Breast mark later in the day.

The GNAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week on October 15th, Rabideau is the first athlete to claim GNAC weekly accolades in two sports for Saint Joseph's, which is in its sixth year as a member of the conference.

Rabideau is the second SJC swimmer to earn GNAC honors this winter as she joins classmate Mickeyla Murphy (Scarborough, Maine), who earned conference rookie accolades following each of the last two reporting periods.

The Monks are off until the weekend of December 1st when the team travels to Simmons College in Boston for the two-day GNAC Championship.
