Fighting Scots Tip Monks on Senior Day

 

STANDISH, ME – Gordon College edged Saint Joseph's, 122-114, in a head-to-head women's swim meet at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday. Freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) won a pair of individual events and collected a runner-up finish for the Monks.

Rabideau won the 100-Fly (1:05.55) and 100-Breast (1:15.13) and placed second in the 100-IM (1:07.12) in the team's final regular-season meet. Freshman Alexandra Krasco (Melrose, Mass.) won the 50-Back (34.35) and 200-Back (2:35.19) and senior captain Christine Cote (Biddeford, Maine) won the 50-Free (28.13).

Prior to the start of the meet, the Saint Joseph's coaching staff took a few moments to honor the program's two seniors – Cote and Camire, a duo that has combined to compete in 127 individual events during their respective careers. Cote, a four-year participant, has posted 26 top finishes and 29 runner-up efforts in 98 events and currently owns the team 50-Free (27.17) and 100-Free (58.49) records. Camire, a two-year team member, has placed second eight times in 29 races over two seasons.

Others who performed well versus the Fighting Scots include first-year Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.), who won the 200-Free (2:17.47) and finished as the runner-up in the 50-Free (29.44), and freshman Alison Cuddahy (Weymouth, Mass.), who placed second in the 50-Back (35.08) and 50-Fly (33.05).

Freshman Mickeyla Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) was the runner-up in the 50-Breast (36.40) and senior Kiani Camire (Lewiston, Maine) placed second in the 100-Free (1:03.94).

Saint Joseph's will close out the 2012-13 campaign with an appearance in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships in White River Junction, Vermont. The three-day event begins on Friday at 10:00 AM and continues through Sunday.
