2013 Women's Swimming Team Awards

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College swimming Head Coach Rick Hayes has announced the 2012-13 team awards. Most Valuable, Most Improved, Sportsmanship and Monk awards were given to deserving members of both the men's and women's teams following the end of the season.

On the women's side, Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) claimed Most Valuable honors, Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.) was selected as the team's Most Improved swimmer and senior captain Christine Cote (Biddeford, Maine) received Sportsmanship and Monk Award accolades.

Rabideau, the GNAC Rookie of the Year, swam in 26 events as a freshman and repeatedly broke the Monks' breaststroke records during the 2012-13 campaign. She ended the season with program bests in the 200-Breast (2:36.05), 100-Breast (1:10.91) and 50-Breast (31.97) events - with all three marks being set in the NEISDA Championship in early February.

Huberdeau competed in 22 events as a rookie and recorded a pair of individual victories as well as a pair of runner-up finishes last winter. A true competitor, Huberdeau steadily improved as the season went along and will be relied upon to help lead the young team to new heights in the coming years.

Cote, the Monks' lone senior and team captain, raced in 105 events during her four-year career and certainly left a mark on the fledgling Saint Joseph's College swim program. During her time at St. Joe's, Cote posted 26 wins and a program-high 29 runner-up efforts and currently owns the program's 100-Free (58.49) and 50-Free (27.17) records. She also swam legs for four of the team's five record relay teams during the 2012 season.
