Women’s Swimmers Collect GNAC Honors

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College women's swimmers have received awards.

Sophomore Anne Fougere (Warner, N.H.) has been selected as the GNAC Swimmer of the Week and freshman Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) has garnered GNAC Honor Roll mention.

Fougere played an important role in the Monks' 131-121 season-opening victory over Husson University on Saturday. The much-improved sophomore posted individual wins in the 50-Breast (37.43) and 100-Breast (1:22.68) and swam a leg for the winning 200-Medley Relay team.

Halvorsen helped lead the Monks to victory in the team's season-opener on Saturday with a win in the 1000-Free (12:51.58) and a runner-up time in the 500-Free (6:17.08). She also swam a leg for the SJC 200-Free Relay team, which finished as the runner-up with a 2:03.83 effort.

The weekly honor is a career-first for both athletes.

Saint Joseph's will compete at Elms College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
