Swimmers Swept at Gordon College

WENHAM, Mass. – Gordon College swept Saint Joseph's College in head to head swimming action on Saturday, as the Fighting Scots defeated the Monks men 125-78 and the SJC women 147.5-80.5.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN
  • Senior Allie Krasco (Melrose, Mass.), senior Annie Fougere (Warner, N.H.), freshman Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine), and junior Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) swam in the 200-Medley relay and placed third with a 2:14.98 effort
  • Senior Brooke Huberdeau (Andover, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 1650-Free (20:43.79) and 500-Free (6:02.29) races and finished fourth in the 100-Free (1:04.10)
  • Fougere placed second in the 50-Breast (37.39) and 100-Breast (1:20.64) events
  • Junior Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine) finished third in the 200-Free (2:26.02), 50-Breast (37.61), and 100-Breast (1:20.77)
  • Rowlett was third in the 100-Fly (1:14.48) and 100-Back (1:12.21) races and posted a 33.96 time in the 50-Fly
  • Halvorsen raced to a third-place finish in the 50-Free (31.27) and placed fifth in the 500-Free (6:05.75)
  • Krasco placed fourth in the 50-Back (36.19) with a 35.12 effort in the 50-Fly and a 2:43.77 time in the 200-IM
  • Sophomore Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine) was fourth in the 50-Free (34.26) and fifth in the 50-Back (38.11) with a 2:48.58 performance in the 200-IM and a 2:43.66 time in the 200-Back
  • Halvorsen, Prue, Fougere, and Huberdeau registered a 2:03.21 time in the 200-Free relay

THE RUNDOWN – MEN

  • Senior Alexander Gilvey (Windham, Maine), junior Ben Johnson (Belmont, Mass.), freshman Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.), and first-year Zack Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine) participated in the 200-Medley relay and placed second with a 1:49.13 time
  • Gilvey won the 50-Back with a 27.26 effort and finished second in the 50-Free (25.57) and 100-Back (59.33) events
  • Quinlan won the 100-Fly (1:01.48) and placed fourth in the 50-Fly (28.45)
  • Johnson was the runner-up in the 50-Breast (30.54) and 100-Breast (1:08.12) races with a 2:13.65 effort in the 200-IM
  • Senior Andrew Merlino (Natick, Mass.) won the 100-Free (54.73) and 50-Fly (26.39) events and finished third in the 100-Fly (1:02.52)
  • Gryskwicz placed third in the 200-Free (2:03.57) and 500-Free (6:01.91) events and fourth in the 50-Free (26.58)
  • Quinlan, Merlino, Gryskwicz, and Johnson put up a 1:40.69 effort in the 200-Free relay

Saint Joseph's will conclude the 2015-16 campaign with an appearance in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. The three-day event, hosted by University of Rhode Island, begins on Friday, February 12th.
