Alumna Fougere Tabbed as Assistant Swimming Coach

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swimming Head Coach Jared Felker is pleased to announce that Annie Fougere '16 has been hired as an assistant coach.

During a successful four years at Saint Joseph's, Fougere was a three-year team captain for the Monks while earning GNAC Swimmer of the Week honors in 2013 and collecting GNAC Honor Roll mention in 2014. A Physical Education major at Saint Joseph's, Fougere collected GNAC All-Academic Team honors her junior and senior seasons.

She also received the Chris Kiernan Award from the Saint Joseph's Athletics Department following her senior year. This award is presented annually to the student-athlete who has shown a consistent work ethic to develop as both a student and an athlete; who has displayed a strong commitment toward service of team and community and has proven a "never quit attitude" and the willingness to work through and overcome adversity.

In four years as a contributor for the Monks, Fougere competed in exactly 100 individual events - well over half in breaststroke races - and tallied 18 wins with 20 runner-up performances.

After graduating, Fougere worked under Dorsi Reynolds at Upper Valley Aquatic Club in White River Junction, Vermont as an Age Group Coach.

"I am really excited to have Coach Fougere working with our squad," adds Coach Felker.  "Since graduating from Saint Joseph's in 2016 she has been honing her coaching skills at the Upper Valley Aquatic Club out of White River Junction, Vermont.  She will be focusing her energy on the development of our Breaststroke and IM groups."
