Baillie & Christian Collect GNAC Rookie of the Week Accolades

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College freshman swimmers have claimed accolades.

Rose Baillie (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Corvias Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week and Joey Christian (Scarborough, Maine) is the GNAC Corvias Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week for the first reporting period of the 2017-18 season.

Baillie posted four wins, collectively, in her first two collegiate meets, winning the 50-Breast (34.23) and 100-Breast (1:14.60) against Colby-Sawyer and Franklin Pierce on October 14th and topping the 50-Breast (34.46) and 50-Free (27.42) fields in victories over Husson and Maine Maritime on October 21st.

Christian won the 1000-Free (11:37.78) and 100-Free (54.32) against Colby-Sawyer and Franklin Pierce and remained undefeated in the 1000-Free, dropping his personal best by seven seconds, with an 11:31.12 time while also winning the 50-Back (30.59) and 100-Back (1:05.08) events against Husson and Maine Maritime a week later.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Saturday, November 4th when the teams travel to Elms College for a 12:00 PM event.
