Saint Joseph's Competes at Maine Maritime Academy

CASTINE, Maine – Saint Joseph's College competed in a head-to-head meet at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday. The SJC women suffered a 107-85 defeat while the Monks' men fell by a 149-24 score.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Junior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) won the 200-IM (2:30.63)
  • Senior Anna Walker (Scarborough, Maine) won the 200-Free (2:17.63) and 100-Back (1:10.45)
  • Sophomore Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) won the 200-Breast (2:43.84)
  • Sophomore Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) won the 100-Free (57.87) and finished second in the 50-Free (26.43)
  • Freshman Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) placed second in the 1000-Free (15:21.89) and third in the 500-Free (7:28.20)
  • Freshman Hannah Murphy (Quakertown, Pa.) finished third in the 100-Fly (1:29.14)
  • Freshman Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) was third in the 200-IM (2:42.12) and 200-Breast (3:01.69)
  • Junior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) finished fourth in the 200-IM (3:12.28) and 100-Fly (1:32.85) events and fifth in the 200-Breast (3:24.48)
  • Soucy, Twombly, Podsiadlo, and Matthews won the 200-Medley relay with a 2:03.13 time
  • Murphy, Walker, Twombly, and Podsiadlo placed second in the 200-Free relay (1:56.46)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Junior Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) was second in the 100-Fly (1:03.96) and 200-Breast (2:39.48) and third in the 200-IM (2:20.96)
  • Freshman Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) finished third in the 100-Free (57.50) and was fourth in the 200-IM (2:31.35) and 200-Breast (2:59.05)
  • Sophomore Zachery Creekmore (New Fairfield, Conn.) placed third in the 200-Breast (2:57.82) and was fourth in the 200-Free (2:41.01) and fifth in the 100-Free (1:09.30)

Saint Joseph's will compete in the three-day Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Meet at the Wellesley Sports Center on February 3-5.
