BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships at historic Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon. The men placed fourth with 108 points and the women finished seventh with 153 points.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

• Senior Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) paced the Monks and finished 10th overall with a 27:48 time to earn All-Conference honors for the second time in his career
• Junior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) was just two seconds behind his senior teammate and fellow team captain and finished 11th
• Freshman Ben Plante (Biddeford, Maine) placed 35th with a 30:38 effort
• First-year Jacob Boissonnault (Biddeford, Maine) was 41st with a 31:02 time
• Freshman Kevin McWilliams (New Milford, Conn.) finished 42nd after touring the 8K course in 31:04
• Freshman Connor White (Bayport, N.Y.) placed 45th with a 31:30 performance
• Senior Connor Dufour (Augusta, Maine) finished 47th (31:50)
• Freshman Andrew D'Ovidio (Walpole, Mass.) was 51st (32:26)
• Freshman Zach Hirst (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) placed 59th (37:47)

OVERALL

Norwich University won the men's race for the ninth time in program history – and third in the last five years – with 21 points after placing five scorers in the top seven individually. Johnson & Wales senior Adam Sachs claimed top individual honors – for the second time in three years – with a 26:13 time, the fastest mark in the GNAC Championship race over the last 11 seasons.

With the victory, Sachs earned GNAC Runner of the Year honors while Norwich freshman Jack McNally claimed GNAC Rookie of the Year accolades after finishing second overall with a 26:28 effort.

Saint Joseph's first-year Head Coach Scott Hutchinson was selected as the GNAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year – by vote of his peers – and the SJC men's program also garnered GNAC Sportsmanship Team honors, an award also voted on by conference head coaches.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

• Sophomore Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) collected her first All-Conference honor by placing eighth with a 20:19 time
• Senior Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) finished 28th with a 21:47 effort
• Sophomore Lauren Lecompte (Lewiston, Maine) placed 45th with a 22:33 performance
• Sophomore Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) was 51st (23:00)
• Freshman McKenzie Pepin (Windham, Maine) finished 58th (23:33)
• Freshman Sydney Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) placed 60th (23:40)
• First-year Analyse Harris (Windham, Maine) raced to a 63rd-place finish (23:52)
• Freshman Amanda Tavoletti (Reading, Mass.) was 64th (23:56)
• Freshman Mackenzie Beaudoin (Fayette, Maine) finished 67th (24:30)
• Junior Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine) placed 72nd (24:49)
• Sophomore Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) was 77th (25:23)
• Senior Meghan Fullarton (Windham, Maine) finished 89th (27:53)
• Sophomore Emily Tourangeau (Scarborough, Maine) was 97th (31:05)

OVERALL:

Norwich also won the women's race for the second time in the last three seasons with 50 points, edging Simmons College – which also tallied 50 points – via conference tiebreaker. University of Saint Joseph senior Kaneen Gomez-Hixon won the women's 5K for the second-consecutive season with a 19:54 performance.

With the individual victory, Gomez-Hixon collected GNAC Runner of the Year for the second time in as many seasons while Suffolk University freshman Emily Manfra was the top finishing first-year runner with a 20:02 (second overall) time and garnered GNAC Rookie of the Year honors for her efforts.

Norwich Head Coach Nick Cooper claimed GNAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year honors while Emmanuel College earned the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award.
