Dostie & Rabideau Honored by GNAC

STANDISH, ME – Sophomore Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) and freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) have garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades.

Dostie, the 2011 GNAC Runner and Rookie of the Year, has been selected as the Runner of the Week for the fourth time this fall, while Rabideau has claimed GNAC Rookie of the Week honors for the first time.

Dostie broke the program's 5K record for the second time this season when she notched an 18:30 time to place seventh out of 154 runners in the 2012 State of Maine Championship on Saturday. Her effort was just 14 seconds off the pace of the event-winner and three seconds better than her previous low time. She is the first SJC cross country runner, of either gender, to place in the top 10 at the state championship.

For Dostie, the weekly honor is the 10th of her collegiate career. She was named as the GNAC Rookie of the Week three times and Runner of the Week on three occasions during her freshman campaign.

Rabideau finished 32nd out of 154 runners with a 19:41 effort in the State of Maine Championship on Saturday morning. The sub-20 time was not only the first of her young career, but also a new personal-low.

Rabideau was also listed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on September 10th.

Saint Joseph's will hit the trails again when both teams compete in the GNAC Championship, hosted by Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire on Saturday, October 20th.
