Dostie Closes Career with 15th GNAC Top Runner Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the fourth time this fall and 15th time in her career.

Dostie led the Monks with a 24:11 effort and finished 95th out of 387 runners overall in the 2014 NCAA DIII New England Championship on Saturday. The senior standout was the top GNAC runner in the event and capped her career having finished in the top 100 at the regional event all four years.

The NCAA regional counts as the last collegiate event for Dostie, who most certainly will go down as one of the elite runners in the history of Saint Joseph's College women's cross country. The four-year standout ran in 27 races and posted eight top-finishes with 11 top-10 efforts during her career. Only Sarah Willis '08 (16 top-10) and Michelle Charest '02 (13) have more top-10 finishes in team history.

Dostie, a three-time GNAC Runner of the Year and four-time All-Conference honoree, also owns six of the top 10 times, including the fastest all-time mark, an 18:30 effort at the 2012 State of Maine Championship, in the history of the program.

Dostie, a three-time GNAC Rookie of the Week honoree who was also listed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on three occasions, closes out her career having earned 21 different conference weekly accolades.
