2013-2014 Men’s Club Ice Hockey Season Preview

Standish, MAINE - The upcoming season for the Men's Club Ice Hockey team looks to be a promising one. Coach Chris Quattrucci '13 will begin his first season at the helm, taking over for Coach Chris Sacoco. Coach Quattrucci, a member of the Class of 2013, played for the team during his 4-year tenure at Saint Joseph's.

The Monks currently have a total of 8 games scheduled against some challenging opponents. Their opponents include Thomas College, Bates College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community College. The team is looking to add a couple of more games to the schedule, but a complete and updated schedule can be found under the "Schedule" tab.

The Monks have several returning players and a large group of newcomers.

 

Returning Players

Seniors:

Nick Chenette, Colin Finn, Peter Hughes, and Mat Gordon.

Sophomores:

Mario Lemieux, Jimmy Riley, James Gilboy, Zack Fyler, Josh Staples, Ryan Berard, and Joe Markey.

 

New Players

Junior:

Tom Crawford

Sophomores:

Nolan Rizzo, Paulo Lopes, and Daniel Oser.

Freshman:

Sean Costa, Brandon WardJack Gordon, John Marcous, Billy Cooke, Max Gouveia and Dan Donovan.

 

The Monks also welcome back their Student Assistant, senior Brian Saxton (Beverly, MA). As well as two new Student Assitants, Jake Moody (Biddeford, ME) and Bill Soper (Lewiston, ME). With a roster of over 20 skilled student athletes, the Monks are looking stronger than ever.

When asked about the upcoming season, Coach Quattrucci responded with: "I think we have a nice blend of young players and key veterans who have been a part of the program for four years now. We play some strong teams and should compete in every game. I'm excited to coach a group of players so passionate about the game. Overall, I think to program is headed in the right direction and I think this season will reflect that."

Mark your calendars! The Monks open up at home against the Thomas College Terriers on Sunday, October 27th. The puck drops at 8:20pm at Family Ice Arena in Falmouth, Maine. Head down to Falmouth and show your support!
