No Fly Zone

On Sunday, February 1, 2015 the Men's Club Hockey team defeated Husson University 7-6 in the teams 2nd Annual Winter Carnival Game. The teams battled through 60 minutes of regulation, a five-minute overtime, and four rounds of a shootout to find a winner.

The first period opened up with a Monks goal scored by junior Ryan Berard (Millville, Mass.) with assists to Jason Riley (Dedham, Mass.) and Sean Costa (Burlington, Mass.). The Monks struck once more about halfway through the first stanza when Jason Riley put one past Eagles netminder Derek Johnson. Berard and Costa were both credited with assists on Riley's goal. The Eagles tallied one before the end of the period when Erik Orgen put his first of four into the back of the net.
 
During the second period, Husson tied the score at two when Orgen netted his second of the game. The Monks answered back with a power play goal by Costa assisted by Riley and Berard. The Eagles then netted their third to tie the contest yet again. Before the end of the period, junior Zack Graham (Marlborough, Mass.) put one past the Eagles netminder to regain the lead. Assists were credited to Riley and Berard.
 
The Eagles struck first in the third period to tie the game at four. Costa scored his second of the game shortly after to take the lead. Husson tallied two goals to gain the lead for the first time during the contest. With just over two minutes remaining, Graham tucked the puck in the net to tie the game at six.
 
A scoreless overtime period led the two teams into a shootout. In the shootout, Monks goals from Berard and Jack Gordon (Hingham, Mass.) as well as three saves on four shots from Monks goaltender Jimmy Riley (Dedham, Mass.) led the Monks to victory. The team finishes their season with a record of 7-2-1.
